On the 29th, the 1st Criminal Division of the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Court (Chief Judge Jeon Kyung-ho) sentenced Mr. A (32), who was indicted without detention on charges of child abuse and serious injury, to 2 years in prison and 3 years probation.

Mr. A was handed over to trial on charges of pinching and hitting her daughter about 10 days after giving birth in August of last year when she cried badly after vaccination.
After giving birth to his second daughter, he suffered postpartum depression and was momentarily unable to hold back his anger and committed the crime. His crime came to the surface after being reported by a social worker who suspected child damage.
Mr. A denied the crime at the beginning of the investigation, but later admitted the wrongdoing and asked for forgiveness in tears in court.
The judge said, “Even if it was a mentally and physically difficult situation, not everyone does the same thing,” and “it is necessary to punish severely.”
However, “it seems that the victimized child needs continuous rehabilitation, and if the first child, who is in the lower grades of elementary school, is sentenced to prison at the age necessary for the mother, the child will find it difficult to grow up properly.” I decided to do it,” he explained the reason for the leniency.
