FD Korea, a subsidiary of Hanwha Galleria, held an opening event for the second Five Guys store in Yeouido, Seoul on the 13th and began welcoming guests in earnest. Key executives including Hanwha Galleria CEO Kim Young-hoon, Strategy Division Head Kim Dong-seon, Hyundai Department Store CEO Kim Hyeong-jong, and Vice President Na Myeong-sik attended the event.

FG Korea accepted the first 100 people on a first-come, first-served basis at the entrance of The Hyundai Seoul on the 2nd basement floor (subway connection passageway) from 6 a.m. on this day. Afterwards, waiting teams were received through a mobile application (app) from 10 a.m., and at one point, it turned out that there were more than 610 teams. As of noon that day, about 130 teams were waiting at the first branch.

Five Guys is a burger brand that started in the United States in 1986 and currently operates over 1,800 stores in 23 countries. Korea was Five Guys’ sixth country in Asia, and it is said that Kim Dong-seon, the third son of Hanwha Group and head of the strategic division, played a significant role.

FG Korea explained that the first store (Gangnam branch), which opened earlier, has also been visited by an average of 1,800 to 2,000 consumers a day for more than four months since opening. The brand’s distinctive features include differentiated menus such as customized burgers that can be enjoyed according to your taste with 15 different toppings and fries using domestically produced raw potatoes.

An FG Korea official said, “The first Five Guys store has maintained steady popularity since its opening until now,” and added, “To repay the support of consumers, we will also showcase high quality and taste at the second store.”

FG Korea plans to open more than 15 stores in Korea over the next five years.
